President & Founder

A fish hobbyist for the last 24 years, Josh Barber has turned his lifelong obsession into a career working with aquatic species in animal research. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in general biology from Wheaton College and a Master’s degree in biotechnology from Columbia University. He has spent the last 13 years in the aquatic research field during which he assisted many new and existing laboratories up to speed with the latest operating procedures in aquatic husbandry and facility management. He currently works as the Senior Manager of Aquatic Life at Columbia University. His hobbies include improv comedy, videogames and, of course, shore fishing.

Rebecca (Bex) Ober M.S., D.V.M., D.A.C.L.A.M.

Founder & Veterinarian

Bex earned her Bachelor’s in English from Michigan State and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Kansas State University where she also completed her Master’s Degree. She is a diplomat of the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine and currently works as clinical veterinarian at Northwestern University. She has 6 years of aquatic pathology experience and was an integral part of disease treatments and prevention during her residency at Columbia University. She also worked on several major projects to aid researchers in overcoming the physical hurdles of live imaging technologies. In her free time she plays tennis, explores Chicago, and goes on walks with her dog, Charlie.
